Childhood Heroes
Since childhood I especially had a passion for the dance. Dance was and still is a healer in my life. In my degree program “Therapy Through the Arts” I researched the history of dance, and traced how dance has been used as a healer throughout the ages. Dance was a necessary part of how the ancient Medicine Man healed their tribal member’s wounds and illnesses both mental and physical.
All my childhood heroes were dancers. I respect and love all forms of dance and am grateful for the beauty and meaning that they have contributed to the world. I came in a revolutionary time when dance was going through a transformation (from toe shoes to bare feet from outer superficial form, to in depth meaning) artist wanted to express themselves, their truth, their feelings, starting with Isadora Duncan (the revolutionary herself) and culminating in the great works of Martha Graham.
