Having my own home, and nobody to answer to, was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I loved my house in Accord, nestled in nature, with land to create gardens to my hearts content, lovely views, lots of space around me and kind neighbors. Also the outbuilding made it possible to have workshops or gatherings, a very nice feature. I felt blessed. In the 23 years I lived in the house, I grew deep roots there, it was a special place, I felt at home with myself, I felt authentic. Truly a miracle that I even found this place in the light I would not have had the credentials to get a mortgage. To a lot of my friends I lived in the middle of nowhere. But I had everything I needed and I managed to find work. At first I did private home care, then later I worked as an Activities leader in the city of Kingston at a Nursing Home. Once a year on my birthday I would have a party, I made a lot of food and people brought dishes and then we would have performances in the outbuilding. It was my social event for the year.  My home was also suited for doing retreats and the last years there from 2011 to 2015  I would do a three month winter retreat under the auspices of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche.  As the saying goes “there is no place like home” and that really applied to my home in Accord
